Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources and EPİAŞ Chairman Abdullah Tancan wrote a foreword for the MW 100 Türkiye research and report, prepared by the international consulting company Kearney and Enerji Günlüğü, one of the energy sector’s leading news and information sources. Tancan emphasized that the transformation and development process that began in the energy sector in 2001, supported by the right strategies, helped create a competitive and increasingly liquid electricity market. He stated, “With an installed capacity of approximately 104,000 megawatts (MW), our country succeeded in joining the countries that exceeded the 100,000 MW threshold in 2022.”

In his article, Tancan noted that Türkiye ranks fourth among European countries in terms of installed capacity based on renewable resources. He said, “Türkiye also holds the title of the sixth-largest country in electricity generation from renewable resources in 2022.” According to the information provided by Tancan, Türkiye ranks 11th globally in installed capacity based on renewable resources and 13th in electricity generation from renewable resources.

Tancan also highlighted that EPİAŞ is the market operator with the third-largest day-ahead market trading volume in Europe. He said, “We can say that the Transparency Platform is the best in Europe, both in terms of data variety and volume, as well as ease of access to different data from a single source.”
